After sending query letters and sample chapters and receiving rejections aplenty, we took a break from submitting and focused on polishing what we were writing. When Timothy (J. Lambert) and Becky read Andy Schell's novel MY BEST MAN, they thought it was similar in tone and style to what we were then writing (the pages that became IT HAD TO BE YOU). Andy thanked his agent, Alison Picard, in his acknowledgments. We queried her; she agreed to read what we had, and upon reading it, she forwarded it to Andy's editor at Kensington, John Scognamiglio, who bought the manuscript.
