Collaborative writing offers an instant support system. If you don't know what to write next, someone is there with an idea. We often compare ourselves to a band; everyone plays a part in the creative process and brings something special to the mix. A disadvantage is that it takes longer to write collectively. And unless you have a personality disorder, there aren't as many discussions involved in writing alone.
